Chocolate cherry bars
1 (18.25 ounce) box devil's food cake mix
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan.
In large bowl, combine base ingredients. Stir by hand until well mixed. Pour into pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
In small saucepan, combine sugar, butter and milk. Boil, stirring constantly, for one minute. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate chips until smooth. Pour over warm bars.
